Paper Craft Research
Paper crafting is very intricate and delicate. Even though it is not a very conventional method of art making, the results are often stunning. Looking at paper art, it is tough to understand how it was made and it is part of the awe hat goes hand in hand with those masterpieces. I chose to write about Hoàng Tiến Quyết, the wet folding origami artist who makes organic looking animals out of a thick paper.
These works are different than traditional origami. He is working to create an object very similar to their subject. As well as this i believe he is distinguishing himself from others making origami works. He is not satisfied with the rigid geometric shapes that we are often familiar with when we think of origami. He wishes to innovate while still honoring an ancient, traditional form of art. The forms are pleasing to look at, and incredible unique.
These works are unique, and the pieces that contain a cocked head that gaze at the viewer are impactful and almost personal. There's a niche feel that contains a charming intimacy. The curves are so far out of the ordinary, as is the three dimensional nature and it makes it capable of being instilled with personality.
Hoàng Tiến Quyếts' origami shapes inspire me partially because of the artist himself. After many failed, or sloppy attempts at making little origami forms from in depth youtube videos, you really gain an appreciation for the art. Not only is this artist making already incredibly difficult form of art, but he is making his own forms as well as a whole new style of making them. To take a flat piece of paper, and be able to make simple folds in order to make a complex, flawless form is truly inspiring.
